Most researchers are known for what they study, this celebrates who they are behind the lab coat.
This artwork is a collection of photographs of QBI researchers wearing lab coats and doing their hobbies. The lab coats are distinct in each image due to the contrast between the individuals doing creative and active pursuits rather than traditional lab work. This makes the piece stand out due to the unexpected nature of the photographs.
"I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in Matilde Balbi’s lab at QBI. My broader focus is understanding how brain stimulation works to apply this knowledge to translational practice helping ageing individuals and people who have suffered from a stroke."
My research explores how we can use brain stimulation, the delivery of small amounts of electricity to the brain, in stroke and ageing. I look at how we can improve communication between different parts of the brain to help improve motor and cognitive performance.
Research, to me, is about more than just the science that we do. It is about the incredible people that are working hard each and every day to innovate and explore the unknown. This work draws on this and captures some of the incredible people that I have met during my time at QBI.
